Huperzine A

Huperzine A is an herbal supplement used in China to treat memory loss.  It may work by preventing abnormal decreases in acetylcholine, a chemical that carries messages between brain cells, with an action similar to some prescription medicines. 

There is some evidence that Huperzine A may be effective.  Results of a trial of Huperzine A sponsored by the U.S. National Institutes of Aging have not been announced.
