Over on the east coast of Florida, Patty Doherty has been raising money to support Alzheimer's research through The Unforgettable Fund. She and her supporters are funding two more interns in Malcolm Leissring's lab at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Check out her blog to learn more!

Thank you so much, Mona, for mentioning The Unforgettable Fund in your post. Your blog is so FULL of information, I'm always struck by the fact you have spent years becoming a leading expert in all things Alzheimer's. I'll bet you never thought you'd wind up here, leading so many us through the dense scientific data that swirls around an Alzheimer's family. Please don't ever let go of us!
When I read the words in a published scientific paper that some little piece of research was aided by The Unforgettable Fund, I'm just filled with awe that no matter how insignificant you may think a $5 donation is, when you pull many of them together, it really matters, it makes a BIG difference.
Small efforts made by many is what it takes to ensure Alzheimer's research moves forward. In other words, I want to make sure you have PLENTY to write about.
Any thoughts on whether you think you and I and the rest of our generation will dodge the bullet of this disease? I'm starting to think we may be running out of time, that today's efforts may be more for our children's generation than our own. When my father died three years ago, I never thought I'd seriously be contemplating following in his footsteps. I'd prefer a detour. And so we keep raising money, gathering data, pushing information forward, while your mom and my dad and all the others in the Elsewhere smile and nod.
