My friend and fellow blogger Patty Doherty (The Unforgettable Fund) took care of her father for eleven years. He died just after my father did.
Patty and I have been talking about the proposed cuts in funding for the newly opened Byrd Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute here in Florida. She's posted a video on YouTube with her thoughts. You can comment on her video using YouTube - either in writing, or by uploading a video of your own. Anyone can watch her video, but you'll need to register for a free YouTube account to comment or to upload your own video.

I received this comment from a person with dementia today:
Since I cannot get into the place to comment I will do it here
It is a powerful video and needs to add the problems of younger people with Dementias as they are the ones who will break the system some still working ,many with young children at home andmany writing books to tell the real story of living not dying of the disease. lectures and news articles and tv is becomming aware of the 500,000 persons inthe us with early stage early onset and so many not diagnosed because research has not found enough tools to diagnose early. Jeanne Lee,
Thank you so much for bringing up this point. This disease is a disease that can strike anyone, at any time. Historically, the elderly age into it, but as you illustrate, there is no "safe" zone when it comes to Alzheimer's disease.
May I post your comment on my blog?
Patty
